I am happy to join for my 1st time in Outdoor Wednesday! It is still chilly where I live high in snow country, but I know warmer weather is just around the corner. I have not been blogging long, and this was my very first post so I figured it has not been seen by many. I want to send a special thank you to Susan our lovely hostess of this fun event. When you are finished looking around be sure and visit Susan's site A Southern Daydreamer for more Outdoor Wednesday participants.Thank you for finding your way here and I hope you enjoy your visit...Cathy
It was lightly raining when I woke early one morning last fall. I came downstairs to fix a cup of coffee and was greeted by this sight. I grabbed my camera and snapped a few photos, hoping to capture the moment before it passed.
My home backs up to an 80 acre nature preserve. If you pay attention you notice the abundant wildlife which resides there. My deck sits high to take advantage of the view. Thankfully deer don’t make a habit of climbing the stairs, because they are particularly fond of the hostas and daylilies on the ground level.
I live in a neighborhood but the woods make it feel secluded. Since I have homes on each side of me I found these deck boxes which create the perfect amount of privacy. I filled them with red geraniums, tall spike (dracaena) and white cascading sweet alyssum. The boxes fit snugly over the deck rails and even on the windiest of days stay secure.

How beautiful! What a spot!

Cathy,
ReplyDeleteI love the way you used a monochromatic color scheme in your home, and by adding that splash of color with the ecualyptus also gives the space some texture and makes it more interesting. It is a beautiful room. I also love your website.

Hi Cathy,
ReplyDeleteYour deck with its beautiful geraniums looks so inviting. You must have a very green thumb in addition to everything else. What a great view, and The Misty Photos are great.

Excellent use of color to punch up and
ReplyDeletecompliment the deck's neutral color.
This reminds me of when we lived in Vancouver, B.C. The weather was very much the same. My veranda also had the same misty look for many days upon end. Sometimes 12 days before the sun would show it's pretty face.
ReplyDeleteLove the picture Cathy

Love the misty pictures. The geraniums makes the pictures pop!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place to live.
I love misty mornings like that-the world appears so dream-like. Your red geraniums are a vibrant burst of color against the lush green background. I have been trying to get my neighbor to try a red/white color scheme. Her house is black and white and the colors would just pop. Lovely!
