For this week's event I am sharing a turn of the century Victorian charmer! When you have finished looking around be sure and visit our lovely hostess Smiling Sally for more participants. Thank you for coming and I hope you enjoy your stay! Cathy
Pictured above is the Owens house from the movie Practical Magic. Lately, I have had fun creating some good magic for a home similar to this Victorian beauty! My client's 1914 over the top gracious, WOW, is one of those rare special gems that is a pleasure to design for. Not without a few hiccups along the way. Vintage construction is always a challenge, because you can count on finding the quirky and unexpected. Its plaster, load bearing walls have proven to be unpredictable. However, it has the most amazing intricate, carved woodworking I have seen in a private residence. Its angelic cherub corbels and turned pilasters rival the Mansions of Newport, Rhode Island! It was certainly built by Master Craftsmen and no doubt a labor of love.
The kitchen includes this timeless piece of equipment, the Sub-Zero BI-36UG. It has sleek stylish design with a single large glass door for the refrigerator area. On the bottom is a convenient roll-out-freezer drawer. It has an innovated air purification and water filtration system which guard the freshness of food and water. It has a flush inset design installation that allows the unit to sit integrated with the surrounding cabinetry.
If you are a regular reader you will recall I mentioned what brand of stove this kitchen has in an earlier post! Here is a hint, it is a French beauty...............La Cornue!

Here is a tiny sneak peek of the real life charming turn of the century residence. The wonderful owner granted me permission to share photos with my readers, so stay tuned for more!

My refrigerator could never be kept organized enough to have a glass door, but I do admire those who can do it. I do hope we'll get to see photos of the finished kitchen. I know it's going to look lovely. laurie
ReplyDeleteI'll be looking forward to seeing the work you do at this house. It sounds beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous old house you're working on. I look forward to more pictures. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI love Victorians! The refrigerator looks wonderful but I know I could never have a door with clear glass. With all my rug rats (big and small) there would be fingerprints and a huge mess inside, lol!
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll share more pics as you go along. I'd love to see them.
Thanks for stopping by and saying "hi!".
Enjoy your day!
What an elegant home! It is beautiful!

Thanks for visiting me! I loved Practical Magic! I could never use that type of fridge. Everybody would see the mess and spills. he he.
ReplyDeleteI would love to have a Victorian house. It is my dream house. They have all those nooks and cranie rooms. And the wrap around porch, I would be in heaven!
That is one of my fave movies because of the amazing details in the scenery, cabinets, greenhouse treasures, stairs, gardens, storage rooms even! Blessings and thanks for reminding me of a delight!

Cathy, How exciting for you to have this opportunity. I always wanted an antebellum home, but my husband nixed it as a money pit:) BTW--Got your own alumnae group as fans(-where are the KD's when you need them?:) Can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your pictures. I like the frige but would hate for people to see how disorganized mine looks. It might make me more apt to keep it more organized if I thought people could see the insides. HA

Oh how I love Victorian homes, they are so full of charm and beauty. I also love the fact that they are usually old and filled with history as well as mystery. By looking at the sneak peak I know I am going to love what the inside holds! I cannot wait to see more.

How did I miss this post? That house is amazing in blue like that. Wow! I'd love to have a sub-zero, they're fridge styles all look timeless...
ReplyDeleteI just loved Practical Magic and the home was very cool! How nice that you are re~doing one similar.
ReplyDeleteI have a whole list of things I can have once the kids are gone and a sub~zero may be on the list. However, I did get stainless steel and that shows fingerprints too. Hey, windows do as well. I guess it is a fact of life. LOL!
Sorry I am so late in getting around to Blue Monday. Jet lag and a sore throat...
