Restoration Hardware Style Bedroom!

My daughter recently graduated from university, and wanted a modern feel for her apartment bedroom We have been working on this space together, it is not finished, but it is starting to take shape. She wanted a modern look, clean lines, dark wood, and silver accents. We started by painting the room with Benjamin Moore Beach Glass paint in an eggshell finish. My daughter had seen furniture she liked, but her budget did not allow it. We shopped around and found a similar look in a price point she could afford. We replaced the drawer handles with pewter finish cup hook pulls. It gave the furniture a much higher end appearance. We found the hardware online for a better price then we had seen in the stores, and they had a good selection of styles to choose from.

It has become common in this affordable price point for manufactures to use rubberwood for furniture construction. The name rubberwood does not conjure up the image of quality, but it is a good wood, strong and flexible, resists fungus, bacteria and molds. It has an attractive grain suitable for quality furniture.
We found these mirrored lamps at Homegoods one of my favorite places to shop. The mirror adds a bit of sparkle to the mix.

We selected this large, round silver mirror to bring in circular movement. It adds variety, and breaks up the angular shapes of the furniture and lamps.

This is Griffin, a sweet kitty adopted from the Human Society. He is a little camera shy, but wanted to say hello!
My daughter liked bedding she had seen at Restoration Hardware, but it was a bit pricey. She found exactly the same set on E-Bay, brand new for half the price. She purchased matching sheets at Homegoods at a good discount so she was able to buy two sets.

This is on the wish list, and will be the next purchase for this room, or something similar. We want to bring in relaxed comfortable seating with a textural element that has a modern feel.

These accessory pieces came from Dubai. Their silver color ties them together, and they are interesting little treasures of art unto themselves.

  15. Cathy, your daughter’s room is very elegant, everything flows together so nicely. The paint color is so soothing & relaxing. Those Home Goods lamps are very, very pretty. Oh, how I love that store! Unfortunately we do not have one where I live, but, the closest is just less than two hours away.

Griffin is so cute, and he makes the perfect accent piece for the bed!!

  17. Cathy, I love what you helped your daughter accomplish with her room! It's totally chic and perfect for anyone that has a passion for a modern style of living. Sometimes I wish I had a home large enough to incorporate a style per room. Wouldn't that be fun, I'd call it the Eclectic Mansion. ;) I also love your Door entrance with the glass! Quite pretty! ~CC Catherine from "Catherine de th`e Cups"
