There are few places that inspire me more then Hawaii. It truly is a little slice of heaven here on earth. To visit more beautiful bits of life visit Melissa's Inspired Room when you are done having a look around here. Thank you for visiting and ENJOY ~Cathy~
I had the opportunity to stay a week at The Nintendo Corporate House, which was located on Hawaii's Big Island. The place was something out of the Lifestyle’s of the Rich and famous and such a unique and beautiful setting; I thought readers might be interested in taking a look at it.
To reach the property, I drove through a large lava field which looked rather bleak and barren. That soon changed when I arrived at the entrance of the gated community it was located in. The house sat in a small enclave of beautiful custom homes. Its style was low and linear and had natural stacked stone siding. It was placed in the landscape to take advantage of the views and the sea breezes. On arrival I was greeted by the gentle sound of man made waterfalls and colorful Hawaiian flowers.
The backyard had a jacuzzi and a large meandering sculpted swimming pool, accented with natural rocks and palm trees. It was designed for entertaining and also privacy.
There was a main central house where the kitchen and areas for entertaining were located. There was also a separate wing of individual suites. The property could be split up depending on the needs of the parties staying there. The main house is connected to the suites by this breezeway and a slow moving stream which runs through it connecting the front to the back.
The house sits on a cliff overlooking the ocean. At the back of the property were steps which lead down to a private beach. The boat shown in this photo was for hire and offered snuba which is a cross between snorkeling and scuba diving for shallow waters.
There were many patios or lanai's where you could relax or enjoy a meal with friends.
I thought this overhead cantilevered element was visually interesting. It defined the space but offered little in the way of shade.
This was the view from the back of the house looking towards the pool area and individual suites.
This waterfall connected the breezeway to the pool area and created a separate swimming area.
A large over sized piece of art was placed over the fireplace. It looked like it was painted on a stone, which mimicked the building material used on the outside of the house.
This was part of the main house. This room was surrounded by floor to ceiling patio doors on three sides which could be opened for entertaining and allowed for good traffic flow. The week ended much too quickly. I have great memories and appreciated the opportunity to stay at such a unique property.

Truly beautiful! I used to go to Hawaii every year with my ex-husband and his job----boy, do I miss that! It was sooooo gorgeous----although, now I don't look quite as good in a swim suit, so I would have to cover up----not so fun.

oh wow what a beautiful vacation spot, i bet you had such a fantastic time and it sure does look like a piece of heaven. Thank you for stopping by, your visits are always so sweet. We are having a bit or shall i say a hugh dilemma with this little kitchen add on, the new cupboards that we order for beside the fridge in my opinion are going to be fantastic, great storage but most importantly another work surface...however the other side of the kitchen isnt turning out as i planned, which was to move the pantry beside that silly drop down cupboard, it looks a bit odd and i feel its imposing too much into the eating area, so we removed the upper cab and the drop down cupboard and just placed the pantry there and somehow it doesnt seem enough. So one is too much and the other seems to little, frustration is creeping in but i will dig deep and hopefully come up with a solution, as we have spent the budget so it must work with what we have....oh boy..lol thanks for having to put up with my rant.

Sorry I am late with this comment, but I have to say that I am so taken with that Corporate house. The connecting stream and that waterfall are just so ingenious. I am thinking "How could we do something like this." Perhaps when we win the lottery. Thanks for these wonderful pictures Cathy.
