Sunflower Delight!

Sunflowers 1818 Vincent Van Gogh

I embrace the rich warm hues of autumn, which is fast approaching. If one is lucky there will be a long and beautiful Indian summer, before the quiet of winter settles in. Wandering around town I've been spotting The Flower Of The Sun aka, the perky sunflower, bobbing and swaying in all its fleeting glory. Savoring the moment, I am hooked on sunflowers, and collected a montage of great looks that would be easy to incorporate in a seasonal decorating scheme.

Pottery Barn

This trendy, hand painted pillow would bring some levity to a room. I love using fun accessories like this to add a bit of whimsy and pop of interest to a decor.

Traditional Home

Fresh sunflowers would be a small opulent indulgence, but worth the occasional splurge!

Country living

This clever combination of marigolds, sunflowers and peppers would make the perfect centerpiece for an autumn table.

Better Homes & Gardens

These tall, regal looking, monolithic stems are visually striking in this primitive setting.

Southern Living Kitchens

It doesn't get easier then this! Just pop a bunch of sunflowers in a simple vintage tin container.

Southern Living Kitchens

Such a pretty country french breakfast nook. The use of the tall colorful container to balance the height of the flowers is good, but the arrangment is not realistic for engaging in conversation at the table. Still a great romantic look!

This would be a fun and easy project to make for an entry door or garden gate.

Country Living

Great use of interesting textures in this relaxed setting.

Country Living

One last hurrah! Savoring the lingering bit of nice weather with the company of good friends.

  28. Thanks for participating in the Knock Off party. I am pretty easy going about what fits.

We are from the Kansas, Missouri area and the Sunflower is the Kansas state flower. People dry the middle part and then add "stuff and seeds for bird feeders in the winter.

  42. Petergaye,
Yes, the painting is oil on canvas. The Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh did a series of sunflowers, and many can be seen at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. When I lived overseas in Dubai I regularly flew thru Schiphol airport, and fell in love with the city.
