Enchanted Makeovers at Vista Maria

Enchanted Makeovers is the non profit organization run by Terry Grahl, who is currently making over the young woman's shelter at Vista Maria.

My husband and I have been playing a small part in joining Terry and countless other volunteers on this project. We've been painting and doing the tasks needed to create this magical transformation. Terry is turning a bleak shelter into a place of hope and happiness and touching the lives of many young women. I am so impressed with Terry and her vision, she is truly a treasure. We are nearing the finish line, but there is still much work to be done. I need to scoot and get to Vista Maria, but wanted to spread the word about the good work Enchanted Makeovers is doing. Have a wonderful Saturday!

  1. Hi Cathy
This sounds like fabulous work. I don't think people realise what strength it may take to walk away from everything..

Heck I can't even walk away from my stressful job..

Great work... all of you participating in this endeavour

  7. I came home exhausted, covered in paint, but Vista Maria is looking so much better. It’s truly amazing to see the power of a fresh paint job! Today we worked on the dressers and added white polka dots to the bunk beds we painted earlier. I feel like a pretzel from the twisting and turning required to paint the inside rails. I’m going to be sore tomorrow!
I appreciate the thoughts of good will, but Terry deserves the real pat on the back. She puts hours into organizing and planning these projects. Some of the girls living there were in the building, but had to stay in the TV room while the work was being done. One of the volunteers told me she stayed at Vista Maria for 6 months when she was in high school. She said she did nothing wrong, but she was picked up from school when her parents were arrested. She read about the project and wanted to help so became a volunteer. Hearing her story really showed the importance of these safe havens.
Next Sunday everything will be finished, and I will show photos of the final project just in time for Met Monday!

  9. I am sure that you are sore and
stiff but what proof you have
    for what you have actually
accomplished for one of the best
    of causes. People not governments
are the true helpers for those
who need angels who care. Thank
you for all that you have done
for the center and look forward to
    the pictures when available....
